Provided By: Gregory Gay, Chicagogospel.comChicagogospel.com has been notified of the passing of Reverend Claude S. Wyatt, Jr. founding Pastor of Chicago’s Vernon Park Church of God. Reverend Wyatt along with his wife Reverend Addie Wyatt were early participants in the civil rights movement, maintaining a close association with Dr. Martin Luther King and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). They Wyatts later worked with Reverend Jesse Jackson in the founding of Operation Breadbasket which today is known as the Rainbow Push Coalition. A memorial was held on Sunday, April 18th, with visitation on Monday April 19th from 10 until 6 and funeral services following.
