What To Look for in 2010

Provided By: Gregory Gay

Chicago is counting its blessings; while we may not be the home of the Summer Olympics in 2016, we will host the Edwin and Walter Hawkins Music and Arts Love Fellowship Conference in June, 2010.

There remains a cache of noteworthy Chicago projects to look for in the coming months. Church choirs take center stage with Pastor Smokie Norful's Victory Cathedral Choir, which recorded the first weekend in January. Other notable mentions include Pastor DeAndre Patterson's Destiny Worship Center Choir as well as Bill Winston's Living Word Choir.

Community Choirs have their own sure footing as we look to hear more from the likes of Kenny Lewis and One Voice, GMAC (the gospel according to Chicago), Mark Hubbard and UVFC. Also making a triumphant return is Corinthian Temple's Pastor David Todd Whittley and the KDM Conference Mass Choir on their own Cathedral of Praise Record Label.

Kingdom Records recording artists The Brown Sisters just completed a concept video for their single Awesome God, while Phil Tarver prepares to record his next set with special guest instrumentalist Phil Driscoll. Chicago's own Trina Davis has a very impressive single produced by Pharris Evans that we are hoping will turn into a full project.

Piano virtuoso Wardell Campbell delivers on his set of hymns and songs of inspiration entitled Creation, and we wait with baited breath for the return of Grammy Award winner Carlis Moody Jr. (Lord I'm Available to You). Last but not least, look for the album from the Verizon Wireless How Sweet the Sound 2008 contest winners The Voices of Acme under the direction of Janet Harris-Sutton.
